His latest book is “The Devil’s Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA, and the Rise of America’s Secret Government,” which portrays the man who transformed the CIA into the most powerful — and secretive — colossus in Washington. Talbot, former features editor of the San Francisco Examiner, previously authored the national best-sellers “Brothers: The Hidden History of the Kennedy Years” and “Season of the Witch.”
